Jaime Hansell:

Welcome to Living in Purpose on Purpose. I'm your host, Jamie Hansell, and welcome to my podcast. What's up everybody. It's your girl, Jaime Hansell, and welcome back to Living in Purpose on Purpose. If this is your first time listening here, welcome to the podcast. I always say once you listen, once you're family. So welcome to the Purpose family For all my returning listeners. What's up y'all. Please don't fight me. Don't fight me.

Jaime Hansell:

We had some technical difficulties a few weeks ago and then last week I could not find my in ears. In ears are basically just a form of headphones that goes in your ears, literally, and you know, of course, naturally making excuses of why I should not record or where I cannot record. However, here I am. Okay, i'm here, i'm showing up for you guys. It's rainy, it's gloomy. If you're in Florida, you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you're in Jacksonville, you really know what I'm talking about. I'm not going to lie, it's tough. It's tough making it a priority to record, because I'm so used to. You know, when I took my little break, i was just so used to just waking up and not caring about recording at all. But this is a priority to me, this is important to me and it was important to y'all. Y'all listen to me regardless, and I love that so much So I was like I gotta put out something. I have to put out something, no matter how sleepy I am. Listen, my baby has been babying for sure. Nights have been long. However, i'm here And the episode today is literally speaking to myself, like no cap is literally speaking to myself, because I always tell you guys I listened to myself first and feed it to myself before I try to give it to y'all.

Jaime Hansell:

I believe that, even though I'm quote unquote teaching you guys about these things, there are things that still apply to me and things that I can still utilize in my own life. Now I do want to give a little insert If my voice get a little wonky or if it sounds wonky. I was sick a couple weeks ago, but my voice is still going through some things. Okay, like, sometimes it's regular, sometimes it's not, sometimes it goes in and out. I have no idea what's going on In person. I have this natural rasp to it now, so I don't know if it's going to transpose into my recording with my mic that way, but just to give you a heads up. So if you're listening and you're not like what's wrong with her voice, so I just wanted to say that before I get into it.

Jaime Hansell:

But anyways, back to the important part. I give myself the episodes first and feed myself the knowledge and information and wisdom first. It helps me. Sometimes I have insight on teaching things that I have not mastered. Some things I'm very well versed in and not well versed because I'm well versed in pretty much everything I speak about. I don't speak about anything I don't know about, but I will say that Some things are easier for me to you know, pretty much Utilized, and others and today is really helping me because, especially with the podcast We're gonna be talking about are you committed, and I really believe that there's a commitment that has to take place for you to pretty much succeed anywhere in life.

Jaime Hansell:

You have to be committed in some way, shape or form. You cannot just take the desire to do something in room with that and say, oh, i'm gonna be successful, because that's unfortunately, fortunately, not the case and not the way it works. You have to have more than the idea and you have to have more than the thought. Sometimes people are great like innovators, like They. They come up with these. While I'm not gonna say innovators. They're great, great visionaries. They can envision so many things. They can come up with ideas, business plans, you know, organize different things, like They're really good at Envisioning the next step. But when it comes to actually acting out and being committed to Follow through is difficult. And that's only because some people are straight visionaries. They are the ones that create the Visions, if you will, and hand it off to the people who are the doers, the, the ones who get it done, the organized Leaders. And that's just how it is. And sometimes, you know, people can be a Aplet, the world of things, but sometimes visionaries just cannot commit. And I'm not saying that's okay, we want to commit, but I'm just saying there's some people for certain things and sometimes visionaries just do that.

Jaime Hansell:

Now, when it comes to being committed, commitment is a Quality of being dedicated to a cause or an activity. That's the real definition of commitment. Granted, there's another definite, there's other definitions, but that's the one that I found is Being the quality of being dedicated to a cause and activity. So commitment is paired hand in hand with dedication. They go hand in hand. Those two things you can't have without the other.

Jaime Hansell:

You cannot possibly say you're committed and you're not dedicated to something. You cannot say you're dedicated to something and you're not committed. They're like brother and sister, twins, like joined at the hip, and because of this type of commitment, dedication, partnership, sometimes you want to say, okay, well, am I getting anywhere? Like, i'm being committed, i'm dedicating myself. I don't see the results. I don't see you know, the progress in which I want, and sometimes we look at that way too soon, like we'll start working out today, and we're like, dang, i don't see my APEC yet. It's like, yeah, you just started today's sweetheart, you're not gonna see APEC yet. I don't know if you ever see an APEC, but if you're committed enough, you should.

Jaime Hansell:

But in order to determine your progress, by which you are trying to measure yourself, you have to be committed to the process, and the process does not always reveal actual, like results immediately. So if you're trying to say, oh, did I make it far? Did I make it far yet? Did I make it far yet? Just work on being committed to the process And I promise you, before you know it, you'll see all the progress you've made. But you have to be committed to the process. Sometimes people are committed to the progress, they're committed to see results. They're like okay, i'm committed because I want to see myself like this, i want to see my business like this, i want to see my family like this. But it's like okay, you have to go through the process to get through, to get to the progress, and the only way to do that is to be committed. That's the only way.

Jaime Hansell:

If you aren't committed to something, you'll be distracted every time. And just a little insert If you guys hear some thunder, you know it's very stormy in Jacksonville, but anyways, if you aren't committed to something, you'll be distracted every time. I promise you Like, if I'm not committed to something, i will literally make every excuse in the book. If I'm not Like, if I'm not committed, i swear like I would make every little excuse, like and y'all are probably like what? The purpose mother? Like the limited purpose queen that teaches us how to? yes, i make excuses sometimes.

Jaime Hansell:

Also, sometimes I don't feel like it and it makes me feel better to give myself an excuse of why I don't feel like doing the things. In actuality, i just don't feel like doing it And I'm working on that. I'm working on just saying, hey, i need a break And I'm gonna take a break, like I'm not making excuses, i'm not going to say, oh well, this is not in this. Like no, sometimes things happen out of your control. I get it.

Jaime Hansell:

But sometimes, if you don't feel like it, like don't get your hopes up, sweetheart, especially if you have other people that's like directly working with you Don't get their hopes up, don't feed them some type of story Like it's just, it is what it is. You know what I mean. Like it's okay to not feel like it. It's okay, but just make sure you're committed, because if you're not careful, those distractions will get you every time And you'll find yourself chasing your own tail and not making any progress because you're not committed for it. You keep getting distracted, you keep stopping you in your tracks, you're not able to really get the things done that you want to get done. And if you can't get the things done, you're going to just be stuck in the same place And like it may just be stuck for a month, it may be stuck for a year, but if you're not careful it's going to be a while.

Jaime Hansell:

Now, everybody's definition of a while is different. Some people can say a while is a week And they're like dang, i haven't read my book in a while, and that can be a week, but somebody else because they haven't read my book in a month, that's a while. And then there's some people that just flat out like I haven't read my book in a while, and it's been a year, it's been five years, 10 years, like that's, that's wild. Okay, that's a while, that's a long while. But everyone's definition is different, understood. But if you're not careful, it's just that a while can get longer and longer and longer, and we don't want to do that.

Jaime Hansell:

I know there's a quote by Denzel Washington And he basically said without commitment you'll never start And without consistency you'll never finish. And I just that spoke to my soul. It spoke to my soul, y'all, because you'll never start, you will never truly start. And when I say start, i mean start with the intention of finishing or start with the actions to follow behind your words of finishing. So you know, sometimes we'll start things but we'll stop. That's not, that's, that's not really starting. You're not really starting. Is it okay to like just to continue, to keep starting over? Yes, but you're not fully starting and committing to start until you follow through and keep going.

Jaime Hansell:

So when he said without commitment you'll never start. I said, ooh, that is a gut punch, because that is so true. You will never start without commitment. But if you don't have consistency through the commitment, you will never finish. Never, and I can say that 100%, 10 toes down. You will never finish because you lack consistency. If you lack consistency, you will never get to your goals. You will never get to the end goal, the end game that you have in, whatever it is And you can apply this to many areas of your life but you'll never get to the end game, wherever that is, however that is shown in your life. You'll never get there if you lack consistency. But you have to have the commitment to start. But again, these are like siblings, twins.

Jaime Hansell:

You cannot have consistency and not have commitment, because nine times out of 10, if you're being consistent, that's because you're committed to something, and you cannot possibly say you're committed to something if you're not consistently doing that thing, putting in the work for that thing. You know just multiple things. If you're not Doing that, in comparison, or are paired With the commitment, you might as well keep all, keep all that, keep all that, because I don't know about y'all, but I'm I'm scared of wasting time in my life. I'm scared of that because Life is so temporary So it's like it could literally end tomorrow, or your life can end in a week or a month, or 20 years, 40 years, you never know. But life is so temporary and I'm afraid to waste time. I'm not afraid of commitment.

Jaime Hansell:

A lot of people are afraid of commitment to commit to anything and And it's like I'm not afraid of that I'm afraid I'm afraid of wasting time, i'm afraid of going every day, not working towards my goals, not pushing myself and Being in the same place. Now that I am in ten years, i don't want that. So what do I do? I live in purpose, on purpose, because I know I do not want that for my life. I do not want to be in the same place. I was five years ago, ten years ago today.

Jaime Hansell:

So you know, sometimes I give you guys homework. Your homework reflect, compare your life now. Then it was five years ago and You know how in school we used to do like the little vign diagram and we'll like do the circles And you have one side and the other side and in the middle is all the comparisons or the things that are similar, that interlaps or enter like intertwines from one or the other. That's what you should do for your last five years. So you write down what your life was like five years ago in regards to whatever your goals are and things like that, not just in general. Like I don't want to know that you gain 50 pounds, like you know, unless that's part of your commitment. Hey, if you're committed to working out, you have to compare and say, dang, i gained 50 pounds and I suppose been working out these years trying to get my body right. Yeah, here I am. So if it's a part of your goals, then go ahead. But that just goes to show you, like, exactly what time you have wasted in the past few years focusing on things. That probably does not matter. Or You may have other priorities, which is understandable.

Jaime Hansell:

If, at any moment now I'm not saying it's gonna be overnight as far as the actual Progress by which is changed, but you literally have the power to change your life overnight, you can literally sit, there's a god. You know, i really want to change this about my life. I'm committed, i'm ready to be dedicated. I'm going to be consistent. Let's do this and it will work every time, like that's crazy. It will work every time.

Jaime Hansell:

The mind is such a powerful thing to waste. If you set your mind To do the things that you want to be committed to do, you can change and do those every time, literally every single time. If you put your mind to it, you can do it. And if that's not motivation, i don't know what is. Just to know that you have the power within yourself To actually do and accomplish your goals. And if you're anything like me, with the help of God, you're unstoppable. You can literally do whatever you put your mind to, and that's the glory of it all. That is the most amazing thing for, or of commitment. Like it's literally that simple put your mind to it, set your mind to it, be committed, be consistent, and you got yourself some accomplished goals.

Jaime Hansell:

Now, most people do succeed Because they're destined to like you know, regardless, like you know those people, they're just destined to succeed, no matter what. That's just on their life. But most people Succeed because they're committed to, they are, they are solid. They're like I don't care what it takes, i'm gonna be successful. I am going to be successful no matter what, and that is called commitment. No matter what happens, no matter when you see them, what they're doing. It's always something in regards to being successful, because they're committed to be successful, there's nothing that could stop them from being successful. And That's how we have to be.

Jaime Hansell:

We have to be in a position to where commitment is Second nature to us. It's easy for us to just Hunker down and commit ourselves to whatever it is, commit ourselves to our goals. We have to be put in that position, to where we can do that. Yes, i get that. We have to get put in that position, but sometimes we're not even. We're not even helping ourselves getting to that place in our lives to do that Like.

Jaime Hansell:

Sometimes we're like oh, we don't have the resources, we don't have the money, we don't have the time, we don't have to. Everyone's always listen all the things that they don't have. But if you sit down and write down all the things that you do have, all the resources You do have, all the people and connections that you do have, when you write down all the time and when, which you have, when can you do certain things? Write it down Right, start, start assessing All the things that you do have, because that would allow you to get to your goals. Because now you're like okay, this is a list of everything that I have. What can I do with this?

Jaime Hansell:

Instead of making a list of everything that you don't have and that you need and saying, dang, i wish I had this. Like, what good is that? It's not helping you. It's not helping you become dedicated, it's not helping you commit yourself. It's not, definitely not helping you be consistent, because you're looking at everything that you do not have, which does not help you.

Jaime Hansell:

You don't have it, oh well, what are we gonna do to get it? Because that's the number one goal. We're trying to get the things that we don't have. The list of the goals and aspirations that we have Essentially is just getting the things that we don't have, whether it's physical, monetarily, like whatever it is. We're working on getting those things. So how in the world do you think Listing and complaining about the things you don't have all the time is gonna help you get there? Because it's not So.

Jaime Hansell:

What we have to do is start assessing what we do have. What can I do right now? What would I have? You have to do the best with what you have. Simple, because if you do that, i promise you God will make a way to where you will have the things that you once did not have In order to do the things that you wish to do. He said he'll give you the desires of your heart. What is your heart's desires? What is the real deal, things within your heart that you really desire for your life. He will give those to you. But in order to do that, you have to be committed to even Think about these things. You have to sit in a says.

Jaime Hansell:

Sometimes we go through life every day and we're not even thinking about our success, our future, where we're trying to go Like I get. Like even people who work nine to five jobs and stuff like please do not get sucked up into the cycle. Like even people who work nine to five jobs and stuff like please do not get sucked up into the cycle. That does not make you successful. Make sure you're pushing yourself at your job. Like, put yourself up for promotions, ask your boss what's the next step up, and then, after that, what do I need to do to get there? Boom, there are your goals right now. Commit yourself to doing that. So every time you show up, every day, you think about that list. You think about that next step up that your boss told you. It requires this, this, this and this. So, every day, work towards that list. It's not easy, no, but it's very simple. The way to succeed is very simple.

Jaime Hansell:

If you want a very quick, short answer, be committed, because commitment comes with everything. Commitment comes with literally everything. It comes with persistency, consistency, dedication, hard work, good work, ethic, like commitment comes with so many great things. That pushes you literally right in front of success. Are you committed? That's the question. That's the question I want to leave you with, because we have to become committed, guys. We just have to. It's just something that if you desire to be successful in your life, like literally in any area, any way, shape or form, you have to be committed.

Jaime Hansell:

And that's why I wanted to propose that question today, not only for you guys, but for myself. Am I committed? Are you committed to your podcast? Okay, if you are, you need to show up every week. If you need to change the time, change the time. If you need to change the date, change the date. But guess what? You have to be committed. That's the conversation I have with myself, and I have to have to myself, because if not, if I'm not careful, i'll just keep making excuses of why things cannot be done because I'm showing oh, i don't have time, i don't have this, i don't have that. No, what do you have? You have everything that you need? do it. And when I say everything you need, i mean the bare minimum things. Do it, because that's what counts. So, are you committed, guys? Are you committed?

Youtube will be coming soon. I know I keep saying that, but it's so much that goes with it. So many logistics as far as setting up recording being presentable. Guys, 90% of the time when I'm recording these episodes I look like a bum. Okay, my hair is crazy, like my outfit. Sometimes I don't even have clothes on, like it's crazy. So it'd be a transition for me to record both aspects video and audio.

Jaime Hansell:

But I think I want to be committed. I think I want to be committed, but I want to get all the logistics together because I don't want to just throw it together. I want it to be really good quality. So that will be coming soon. I just got to figure out how I'm going to stop giving myself excuses and make some time. That's all. That's all.
