Speaker 1:

Welcome to Living in Purpose on Purpose. I'm your host, jamie Hensel, and welcome to my podcast. What's up everybody? Welcome back to Living in Purpose on Purpose podcast, where I am your host, jamie Hensel, and I am ecstatic for you to be here. If this is your first time listening, thank you for joining the Purpose family, because it only takes one time and we're locked in. Okay, now, if you're listening again, welcome back. Of course, i like always tell you guys, i'm happy you just returned, so it's always a good welcome back.

Speaker 1:

Now, today we're going to get right into our episode because we don't want to waste any time. I know everyone you know tune in when they're a little busy or when they got other things going on, even if you're not doing anything. I just want to be mindful of your time, so I'm not going to ramble like usual, i just want to get straight into it. So, basically, let me give you a little backstory from today's episode. So my husband and I were actually having a conversation and we're talking about the future, talking about our careers, our future endeavors that we want to partake in, things that we're working on right now, things that we're going to be releasing soon, and we're just talking about how sometimes you'll have, you know, those people that don't necessarily speak down onto your plans, but they just don't understand the full vision. And that's okay, because it's not their vision to understand, it's yours. So long as you're understanding and you have the concept, that's all that matters. But we were talking about how a lot of times, we are saying a lot of things but we're not doing a lot of things. So that's why today I wanted to talk more about.

Speaker 1:

You know, i'm hearing what you're saying. I'm hearing, i understand 1000%, but what are we doing? Because I can hear what you're saying all day, but if I'm not seeing any actions followed up behind it, what could we possibly call it? It wouldn't be success because at this point it's just words. There's no action, and faith without works is dead. That's what I believe And that's what is to be true. It's nothing. Words are nothing if you don't put them into effect and put them into motion. Once you start putting into motion, that's when you'll have motion and you'll start succeeding.

Speaker 1:

Now I'm not just saying that you know, you can just do any action and you're fine, like, oh, okay, i can say this long as I'm doing something. Now there has to be some type of structure to what you're doing. You have to understand the goals and the strategies and the tactics that you have to use to get to that final product, that final end goal, that final success. So you have to be very mindful of when you're doing these actions, when you're actually trying to put these works to your faith, and where you're trying to go in your career and your life, your relationship, wherever, you have to understand, okay, what steps are needed to be taken, because you could be just working aimlessly. You could just be shooting in the dark, taking stabs in the dark, or what my husband would say is throwing something at the wall and hoping it stick. You're just randomizing all your actions just to say that you're working on something. You're doing something, but are you really being productive, though?

Speaker 1:

Because in this episode, we're going to talk about a lot of things, but we're going to talk about mostly the importance of not just setting the goals and talking about them, because you know, we all have had that notebook, that planner, where we're writing our goals down and we're like, oh yeah, we're going to do this, we're going to do that, ooh, and don't let it be the first of the year. You know we're all good for that. That's just the thing. New Year's resolutions We're just writing everything down, we're setting the goals, we're talking about them, but actually taking action and matching your actions to your goals is what we're trying to achieve. That's what it means to live in your purpose on purpose. We'll discuss why this is crucial for success, but I just wanted to provide some insight into what it really means to take action.

Speaker 1:

Now, we know the problem with just talking about goals. Many people make the mistake of just talking about them and not really taking action to achieve them. But this can lead to like a sense of frustration and disappointment because you'll just be saying all these things and you're not working towards it. So, quite naturally, you're not going to see the fruits of your labor because there is no labor to produce fruit. So in this season, you'll just be frustrated and disappointed because you're like dang, i feel like I'm failing to make progress towards whatever the goal is. And it's just one of those things where you're like dang, i gotta figure this thing out, because I don't like feeling like I'm trapped or you're feeling failing or you're lacking motivation or you don't have a clear plan because you're not seeing what the labor can produce. If you can't see that, it's hard to keep going, it's hard to stay motivated, it's hard to stay inspired.

Speaker 1:

But the thing is taking action is crucial. Okay, if you want to achieve your goals, it's crucial. It gets hard, it gets really hard, and we understand that it can help you overcome fear and you build momentum and make progress towards your goals if you start taking action. But you have to make sure not to beat yourself up in the process, because sometimes we get intimidated by the action plan that we need to set in order to achieve our goals. Sometimes it doesn't feel attainable. Sometimes it feels like, honestly, a bunch of craziness, like how in the world am I supposed to make a million dollars by next year? Like how is that possible? And looking on the outside, looking in, or even looking at the goals or the schedule that you have to make, it looks crazy And it looks crucial. But taking action is so important because it will help you overcome that fear of future endeavors that you need to work towards. And if you build momentum, you'll get excited. You'll get excited that you're actually accomplishing your goals, as you're meeting your goals, and you'll make, obviously, progress towards your goals because you're working towards it. It's just the best thing.

Speaker 1:

The benefits of taking action is just, you have more confidence in yourself. Instead of just talking about it, you have actions to follow through with. It's really like dang, i'm really her, i'm really him Because you start to get increased confidence. You have that sense of accomplishment, you have a better self-esteem because you're feeling good. You're feeling like you're accomplishing something, which you are. If you match the actions with your words and not just say what you mean, but mean what you say and do what you say, you'll get all of those things.

Speaker 1:

But you do know that in order to achieve your goals, your actions need to align with your goals. I was mentioning this a little bit at the beginning of the episode, like your actions have to align with that. It's so important. You got to have some practical tips on how to match your actions to your goals. You have to have some type of things to tell yourself or teach yourself so you make sure you're always aligned.

Speaker 1:

This might involve you breaking down your goals into smaller, more manageable tasks so you can kind of create a better plan of action and set deadlines for yourself. But it's easier to kind of do that when it's a little bit smaller. So sometimes you have to take that big goal, that big aspiration, break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks that you can do on a daily basis that won't intimidate you, and then create that plan of action and what you're gonna do to accomplish all of these things and make sure you set deadlines, because if you're a procrastinator like me, jesus Christ, it don't make no type of sense. And I think it's because that the rive under pressure, like knowing that I don't have a long time, i'm like more conscious of, like what I'm doing and what I'm providing the the quality of the work, because I'm already knowing, oh, i'm already crunching it in. So I don't want it to look like a crunch job, i want it to look like a well thought out and provided plan, honestly.

Speaker 1:

But that's why you have to make sure you are matching your actions to your goals so you feel that way, you feel better about you accomplishing them. You're like, okay, i'm knocking down these smaller tasks and instead of trying to meet that one big task that might take forever, it's a sense of self-confidence, but, like, you get that self-esteem boost that you need because you're like, wow, okay, i'm doing this. I'm doing this. I'm doing this. I feel great, i feel like I'm working towards something. I feel like I'm living in my purpose on purpose.

Speaker 1:

But I did want to just let y'all know that when you're trying to match these actions to your words, you're gonna have to overcome some obstacles. Okay, so, even when you're taking the actions, you're matching your actions to your goals, you may still encounter obstacles along the way. So don't go thinking, oh, cuz Jamie said, if I match my actions to my words, then I'm good, like nothing's ever gonna happen bad nothing, no wrench is ever gonna go in my plan. I'm always going to have the best execution, always. No, jamie is not saying I am not saying that, do not quote me on that. Okay, you're still gonna have to overcome obstacles. That's just a way of life. That's just what it is and that's just how it is like.

Speaker 1:

If you are trying to do good in this world, you're gonna have some obstacles because there is an enemy out there that does not want things to go as planned. So you have to fight twice as hard to make sure it is instill into your goals that some things are non-negotiable. So why you're completing these smaller tasks and why you're, you know, trying to figure this thing out. Make sure that there's some non-negotiables where you won't cross the lines on certain goals or certain actions. Rather for those goals, because you know. You know what it is basically, you know what it is.

Speaker 1:

So, just so you know, some of the common obstacles that people may face is like procrastination we talked about that cuz, woo, woo, woo. Procrastination tries to knock on my door every day, every single day, i feel like as a girl. So every single day she just walks up and she's knocking on my door, ringing my doorbell, banging on the windows, and I'm like, no, not today. Man, i have time to have stuff to get done today. Have a list, i have a list. I have to get it done, not today, sweetheart, get off the list. I don't care how early it is, i don't care how late it is.

Speaker 1:

Procrastination does not work here because eventually, when you're procrastinating, you start to doubt yourself, also because you waited so long or you did not do what you need to do right away. You start thinking to yourself like dang, can I even do this? I don't have that much time, i don't have that much knowledge, i don't know if I can actually do this. So then, so doubt will try to literally creep in there And, god forbid, you're going through the obstacle of having lack of resources. That's one of the main things that people go through with their businesses especially or different things that they're trying to do in the community, like if they don't have the resources to provide it. It gets stressful And that obstacle can really weigh some people down And it just sit there, that idea that they had that company that hit them up like that brand and best ship, like it literally was just shut them down.

Speaker 1:

So you got to be able to work with what you have. Okay, you may not always get the bells and whistles, but you have. You know, you may not always get the bells and whistles, but that's okay. You may lack a few resources, but that's okay. Use what you have, work with who you know. That's it, because once you do that, you'll start overcoming all those other things as coming to be obstacles in your path. You don't have to worry about it, no more.

Speaker 1:

So you just have to understand that the importance of not saying what you're going to do, or not just saying what you're going to do, but actually doing it and matching your goals, is so important. It's literally crucial for success. If you do not match your actions with what you're saying, no matter how old or young you are, you are not success. You're literally setting yourself up to fail, not succeed. And if you don't mind, hey, i don't mind. I hope you do mind. But if you don't, hey, but I do, okay, i do, i, i, i really, i really, i really, i really, i really, i really, i really, i really, i really, i really care about what that really looks like for my success, whatever it is, but having those practical tips on how to take action and overcome those obstacles are just as important, if not more important.

Speaker 1:

So make sure that you are understanding what it really means to have those obstacles that pop up, but also understanding that these are needed Sometimes to create practical tips for you in the future. So it's needed sometimes that you kind of fall and gotta, you know, dust your knee off a little bit, get a little band-aid, because you kind of fell and while you failed, you have all these areas of your life that's unfinished business, because you feel like you fell, so you're not doing anymore, and Everybody's just like, oh, like thing. I thought she was doing this, i thought he was doing that, that you was doing this and You're just out of it because you allowed it to win. You allowed the procrastination or the self-doubt or the lack of resources or, honestly, the lack of tips and understanding. You allowed it to Reach over into you, actually setting yourself apart and using more action To do Everything you wanted to do, rather than just want to say, hey, i'm doing this, hey, i'm doing this, hey, i'm doing this and having nothing to show for it, because, at the end of the day, all that is is attention seeking. That's it. So most people that are attention seeking, they Just kind of make everything More so about them and, hey, look at me, look at me. So there's, they're talking a lot. They want you to know like, hey, I'm here.

Speaker 1:

But the people who are really working, the people who really are putting in the work, the people who are going to be very Successful, the people that are keeping their mouth shut and they're letting their actions and their works do all the talking, they're letting you do all the talking, but you have to remember that the key to achieving your goals is to take action. Make sure you stay focused and never give up, never like I don't care what it is. You could take a break. You could take a break all you want, but you got to get back up on this horse and keep riding until you succeed, because that's the only option we, that's the only option we have, as people are living in purpose, on purpose. That's the only option that we have. We do not want to give up, we do not want to go backwards. So what do we do? We look at what we have and we make it work. We move forward. We don't worry about the lack of resources or anything like that. We don't worry about that. We don't worry about how much we doubt ourselves. We don't worry about that.

Speaker 1:

You sit there and you begin to brainstorm to see how am I going to succeed, how am I no longer going to just talk about it and actually be about it? Because that's just important, because it's easy to make the excuse of not participating, because excuses don't require any work. Excuses are just words usually And it's just like in one ear out the other. There's no actions. There's no actions to match up with excuses. Excuses are just excuses, they just happen. So I don't want anybody to feel like they can make excuses to get up online because I promise you, eventually it's going to come back around and you're going to have to understand and process what you've been avoiding your entire life.

Speaker 1:

You know that's a little deep and that's more than a therapy session, but I just wanted to give you guys that before we tune out, because it wasn't a long, long episode, but I feel like it's very effective.
